New! May
2010
The ongoing ISO work on SAM
Processes now serves as a formal revision to current Part 1 SAM Processes
Standard with a tiered and consistent revision of 19770-1:2006, so that:
§
The new
revision provides more accessible standardizing of ISO SAM
processes;
§
ISO19770-1 Processes may now be accessed in four gradually tiered
levels;
§
Suitable for targeting all the necessary SAM processes –
but requiring only those within the tier-level best suited to each
organisation’s preferred SAM goals;
§
Can be used
for assessing an organisation’s SAM to a widely recognised standard:
o
starting with Tier1: Trustworthy
Data (covers inventory, compliance-reconciling);
o
up to Full ISO Conformance
and fully consistent with the existing 19770-1:2006;
o
Tier1 also suitable for
organizations wishing to demonstrate repeatable licensing compliance
processes.
The
ISO19770-1 Processes approach is unchanged: defining Management Systems for
software asset management developed in harmonisation with related ISO/IEC
industry standards and aligned with ISO/IEC 20000-series (Service Management)
standards.
